I thought this recent news about the Knowledge for All project might
be of interest:

Hot Type: Canadian University Hopes to Lead Fight Against High
Subscription Prices

There seem to be an increasing amount of interest in bibliographic
information on the web, such as the beginnings of a 'Citation Commons'
being promoted by JISC and SURF?

Open Access for UK Research - JISC’s contributions

It would be great if we could all somehow work together on this. But
perhaps it would be better to all share data in similar ways and let a
thousand distributed, bibliographic flowers bloom?
