Dear all,
a few days ago Theodora Middleton from the OKF asked for an update from
our working group to be published as a blog post on the main OKF blog.
Considering that there hasn't been much activity in the working group
lately, I was thinking to point out how open archaeology and open
archaeological data in particular are prominently featured in the
programme of next year's CAA conference, including:
* the CAA recycle award
http://www.southampton.ac.uk/caa2012/award/index.html
* the "The Shoulders of Giants: Open Content in Archaeology"
session, chaired by Nicole Beale and Leif Isaksen
* the "Linked Open Data for the Ancient World" session, chaired by
Matteo Romanello , Felix Schäfer and Reinhard Förtsch
* a number of other sessions dealing with data more explicitly
than what is usual at CAA (at least based on my limited
experience)
If you want to contribute to this blog post, or if you think there is
something more interesting we should get to the world, please let us
know!
Ciao,
Stefano
PS it goes without saying that resurrecting monthly meetings would be
very helpful to keep the discussion going until we (hopefully) meet in
Southampton.
